Obituary

Johnny Lee Smith, 83, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral Services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Dr Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Smith was born February 2, 1939, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late J.C Smith and Hattie Mashburn Smith Revell. He served in the United States Navy, and later worked as a Fire Fighter while living in California. Mr. Smith retired as a Teacher with the Ben Hill County School System. Mr. Smith was a member of Arbor Baptist Church and served as a Deacon as well as serving with the Imagine Ministries and the Royal Ambassadors. He could build and repair anything and loved doing home projects for those in need, and was also known as being a prankster. He loved to fish, and passed the love of fishing to his grandchildren. His greatest legacy to everyone was his passion for the Lord and teaching scripture to his family.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Vianne Johnson Smith of Fitzgerald, four children: Alvus Ramsay & Wanda of Jacksonville, Alabama, Ralaina Caban & Josue of Lakewood, Colorado, Steven Ramsay & Leanne of Summerville, South Carolina, and Monica Funk & Michael of Charleston, South Carolina, 9 grandchildren, one great grandchild; and a brother: Jimmy Smith & Eloise of Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by a brother, Willis Smith and a sister, Ann Smith Brewer.
