James N. Redgate 86, of Hanson, died Tuesday August 9 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of over 30 years to Sandra (Butters) Redgate.
Born and raised in Rockland, he was the son of the late James A. and M. Olive Redgate.
James had proudly served in the United States Army Reserves, and prior to his retirement he had worked for thirty years as the Wiring Inspector for the Town of Whitman.
A familiar face in the town of Hanson, James had volunteered for seven years, along with “side kick” Sadie his dog, to deliver food for the Hanson Food Pantry.
He was a loving husband and father and his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by his children Daniel Redgate of Florida, James F. Redgate of Brockton, David Redgate of Randolph and Jennifer Redgate of New Hampshire. He is also survived by his step-children Robert Waters of Georgia and Cindy Dean of Tennessee as well as six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Doris F. (Olsen) Redgate, his brother Billy and his sister Barbara.
Family and friends are invited to attend his graveside service on Friday August 12 at 1:00 PM in the Holy Family Cemetery, 92 Center Ave (Rte. 123) Rockland. By request all other services are omitted.
