Obituary

Karen A. Curlanis (Millerick) 70, of Tewksbury, MA entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on August 8, 2022 at The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Somerville on April 6, 1952, she was the daughter of the late John and Irene Millerick. She graduated from Somerville High School in 1970. Karen lived in Medford for many years where she raised her three sons. Before retiring to Tewksbury, Karen lived with her husband in South Boston.

Karen was the beloved wife of Kenneth Curlanis for fifteen years. Survived by her three sons and stepdaughter: Jason Moore of Dracut, Eric and Amy Moore of Reading, Michael and Jennifer Moore of Tewksbury, Melissa Curlanis of Braintree. She is also survived by four granddaughters who meant the world to her. Emily (10), Abigail (10), Julia (9), and Mackenzie (6).

Karen leaves behind her loving sister Lorna Millerick, half-sister Kathleen Koneski, along with three nieces Marlynda, Shannon, and Courtney. She is also survived by her two great nephews Cameron, and Jack and her great niece Amiyah. Karen is predeceased by her brother Jack Millerick.

Karen was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was deeply spiritual and passed her love of God on to her three sons. Karen was happiest when she was spending time with her family for any reason. Holiday traditions and pizza nights were something she took pride in sharing with her granddaughters. She never missed a special event for her granddaughters. She attended their dance recitals, baseball games, plays, and school concerts. Karen loved doing crafts, baking, and camping with the girls. She enjoyed listening to music, especially from the 60’s and 70’s, around the campfire. She spent many memorable Friday nights at Casey’s in Somerville with her husband and her close friends.

Karen put everyone first. Even as her own health declined, Karen made sure her family was cared for. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
