Celesta “Jinx” (Amalfi) Nickerson aged 94 of Wellesley, MA, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022, due to fall-related complications. She was a lifelong Wellesley resident.
Celesta is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Joseph, along with her daughters Gail and Joanne; son Joseph, Jr. (Toni). She leaves her brothers Amos Amalfi of Wellesley, Modesto Amalfi (Rose) of Ashland, and her sister Pauline Bariteau of Wellesley; six grandchildren, Christina, Konstantinos, Nicholas, Joseph, Graham, and Nathan; and five great-grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
After meeting her husband at Dennison Mfg. Co. in Framingham, the couple lived there until returning to Wellesley after the passing of her mother. She was a long-time employee of F. Diehl and Sons from which she retired, but retained many close friends.
Celesta loved to share her summers in South Yarmouth on Cape Cod with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, taking them on “mystery rides” and canoe trips. She loved to be with people, whether socializing in person or by phone. She and her husband danced quite often to Dixieland music and maintained numerous relationships with friends who enjoyed the same interests across the years.
Celesta was proud of her role as a participant in the second-generation of the Framingham Heart Study, contributing to scientific and medical breakthroughs.
An integral part of St. Paul Parish, she was active in organizing many charity and community efforts, including the quilting group, women’s guild bingo parties, and school events. She made baptismal gowns for many of the littlest parishioners. She was even a runway fashion model in the cause of charity.

Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 9:00-10:45am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley at 11:00am.
