Dan Andon, age 70, of Boxford passed away on Sunday, August 7th, after a heroic battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers at the time of his passing. Dan was the beloved husband of 44 years to Nadine (Halleran) Andon, and the devoted father of Matthew Andon and his wife Rachel of Charlestown. He was the adoring grandfather to his cherished Olivia, and dear brother of Anthony Andon and his wife Dianne of Boxford, and Michael Andon and his wife Naomi of Andover. Dan is survived by his niece Lindsay Andon and her fiancé Sam, and nephews Peter and John Andon.
Raised in Medford, Dan was the son of the late Andonaq and Antonetta (Frisoli) Andon. The son of an Albanian immigrant, Dan’s work ethic was unmatched. From his early days delivering newspapers, to working full-time while earning a college degree, to enduring long hours away from his family while traveling for business, Dan worked tirelessly to provide the best possible life for his family.
Dan was truly larger than life, with a booming voice, infectious smile, and endless stories. He was a diehard Patriots fan, a scotch connoisseur, and somehow miraculously hit a 198 foot hole-in-one. His love of family, food, and football came together on his favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, of which he and Nadine were the consummate hosts. He will be missed.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 11th, from 4 through 8 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Funeral services will begin Friday, August 12th at the Dello Russo Funeral Home at 10:30 AM, followed by Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with a burial at the Village Cemetery in Boxford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to join us as we honor and celebrate Dan’s life.
