Obituary

Richard A. Sementa, age 93, of West Yarmouth passed away on Thursday, August 4th, at the McCarthy Care Center of East Sandwich. Raised and educated in Medford, he was the son of the late Serafino (“Harry”) and Emma (DiGiovanni) Sementa. Richard proudly served in the Army during World War II. As an adult, he was an avid boater and loved his time on the water with friends Joe and Alice Magnarella. Richard was a true Boston sports fan, and especially loved the Bruins. He was devoted to his wife, and held Frances’ hand every day during the last several months of her struggle with Alzheimer’s.

Richard was the beloved husband of the late Frances (Celino) Sementa, and the devoted father of Deborah Sementa of East Harwich, MA, Mark Sementa and his wife Kimberly of Hebron, CT, and the late Richard, Jr. He was the loving grandfather of Maxwell, Elizabeth, Jonathan, James and Olivia, and the dear brother of the late William Sementa and his surviving wife Gloria Sementa of Maryland. Richard is also survived by his nephews David and Joseph, and his “adopted daughter” Lori.
