COEN, Mary T. (Larkin) of Dedham, and formerly of Brighton, MA, Montreal, Canada and County Galway, Ireland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her dear family on August 5, 2022. Age 94. Beloved wife of 56 years to the late John P. Coen. Daughter of the late Peter Larkin and Belinda (Shaughnessy). Sister of the late Sr. Sadie Larkin, Bridie (Larkin) Coen, Paddy Larkin, Brendan Larkin, Fr. Jim Larkin and John Larkin. Predeceased by her loving son John T. Coen. Beloved mother of Patrick Coen and his wife Maureen of Norwood, Marion McAlister and her husband Gerard of Mansfield, Barbara Dupre and her late husband Aynsley of Walpole, James Coen and his wife Karen of Lexington, William Coen and his wife Joann of Brighton, Eileen Coen of Dedham, and Steven Coen and his wife Gina of Needham. Loving grandmother to Michael Coen. Sister-in-law to Helen Larkin of London, England. Loving Nana to 22 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews in Canada and Ireland.
Mary was born in Manninard, County Galway, Ireland, on April 24, 1928. She and John were married in 1952 in Montreal, Canada and immigrated to the United States in 1955. They settled in Brighton and built a wonderful life together. Mary’s greatest joy was her family, for whom she loved deeply. She and John loved traveling to Ireland to visit family and to Dunedin, FL to spend time with her late brother, Fr. Jim Larkin. They also very much enjoyed summers in Scituate, MA.
Mary will be missed beyond what words can adequately express and we deeply cherished our time with her. Our family and friends are blessed to have so many beautiful memories of Mary. Visiting Hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High Street, Dedham on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, 420 High St., Dedham at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
