Ana Jose Gomes, 82, of New Bedford died Saturday July 30, 2022 at St Anne’s Hospital in Fall River surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Jose DaSilva Gomes and Maria (Rodrigues) Gomes, she lived in Angola before moving to New Bedford in 1998. While living in Angola, she worked hard and operated her own convenience store.
Ana enjoyed spending time with her family, watching Portuguese soap operas, and listening to music and church sermons
Survivors include her seven children, Maria Gomes, Candia Gomes, and Eugenia Gibau all of Angola, and Julia Gibau, Jose Gibau, Eugenio Gibau, and Margarida Gibau, all of New Bedford; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Friday August 5th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
