Obituary

Alfonso M Rizzo, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 1st at Ashland Farms of North Andover. Born and raised in Avellino, Italy, he was the son of the late Carmine and Marianna (D'Amato) Rizzo.

Alfonso and his wife Carmela came to the United States in 1957 and lived in Somerville before settling in Medford over 50 years ago. A hard working man, he enjoyed a long career as a machinist in the aircraft industry. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Alfonso enjoyed the outdoors. He loved taking long walks and keeping a beautiful garden at his home. He was always ready to share the abundance of tomatoes and cucumbers with family and friends. He was a great cook but was mostly concerned with the love of his family and most especially keeping close to his adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The beloved husband of Carmela (Della Cioppa) Rizzo, Alfonso was a devoted father to Carmen and his wife Lucille of Springfield, and to Anthony and his wife Lucia of Andover. He was a loving grandfather to Louis and his wife Jessica, Mark and his wife Nancy, Christa and her husband Doug, Thomas and Peter. He was a proud great-grandfather to Mia, Landan, Sophia and Joseph. Alfonso also leaves his dear siblings: Michael Rizzo, Florence D’Amore, Linda O’Dea and Loretta Cremin.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday morning, August 4th from 9-11 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:30 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford.
