James V. Jerome, 84

James V. Jerome, age 84, of Norton, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, July 31, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann C. (Doran) Jerome, to whom he was wed for thirty-three years at the time of her death on November 11, 1999.
Born in Boston, Ma on July 18, 1938, he was a loving son of the late James and Caroline (Parslow) Jerome.
Jim grew up in Newton Lower Falls. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He was stationed in France and was honorably discharged on October 12, 1962 with the rank of Airman First Class.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Jerome was the Chief Financial Officer at Viable Systems Incorporated and had previously been employed at Northrup Grumman.
A resident of Norton for the past fifty-one years, Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and will always be remembered fondly for his remarkable sense of humor. He was a longtime member of the Sven Brask Chess Club, enjoyed watching tennis and was an avid sportscar fan.
He is survived by his loving and devoted daughters: Jeanne M. Gomes and her husband Lino of Cumberland, Rhode Island and Virginia A. Jerome of Middleboro. He was the cherished and adoring grandfather of Magnolia Gomes, Cassandra Gomes and Nathaniel Gomes. He was the dear brother of Virginia Maurer of Marstons Mills, the late Nancy Howell and is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, August 6th from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Jim’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105
