Kacey Ann Ryan (nee Carmer) of Boston, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, July 21st, in Boston. She was 64. Kacey was born on October 21, 1957, to Kenneth “Buddy” and Joan Carmer (nee Cunningham). She was predeceased by her mother, father, and sister Kerby Jean Carmer, and survived by her loving daughters Kensy Ryan, Kelly Ryan, and Kyle MacInnis; Son-in-law Rob MacInnis; her precious granddaughter Emma, who called her “Gammy”; former husband Terry Ryan; her sisters Donna Horning (Dave), Kelly Teller (John), Korey Wheaton (Jack) and Kammy Carmer; adoring Cunningham and Leichtweis cousins; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
After her studies in elementary education at Marymount University, Kacey followed her passion for children and taught preschool for over 20 years at Montessori Schools in New Rochelle and Rye, NY and Longmeadow, MA, where her students, colleagues, and parents adored her and where Kacey developed many life-long friendships. She was a true inspiration to her students, many of whom regularly invited her for sleepovers at their homes.
Kacey’s number one priority in her life was her dedication to family and friends. She cherished cooking her famous chicken cutlets for one and all, spending time by the water at her favorite vacation spots in Cape Cod and Ogunquit, watching her beloved Patriots win yet another Super Bowl, or just talking for hours on end about so many fun topics and sharing amazing stories. Kacey was an absolute treasure whose beauty shone on us all.
Kacey never complained in life and was always more focused on everyone else rather than herself, always downplaying this incredible character trait which came so natural to her. Her zest for life was infectious, her kind and generous spirit beyond compare, always bringing a smile to everyone around her. Kacey was blessed throughout her life to have such incredible wit, a loving soul, uncanny intuition and judgment, continuous curiosity, style, and honesty, all of which made her a true angel on this earth for all of us to enjoy. Kacey will truly be missed by all who had the honor and privilege to know and love her.
To honor Kacey’s life, a memorial service will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, September 9th at Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kacey’s honor to Mass General Hospital for Children, an institution which was very important to Kacey.
