WORCESTER: F. Therese Heroux, 91, of Worcester, died Wednesday, July 27, in UMass Memorial Hospital. Her husband of fourteen years, Dr. Gerald J. Heroux died in 2001.
She is survived by her six stepchildren, Janice A. Dahlstrom (Gerry) of Sutton, Anne E Darby (Chuck) of Huntsville Tx, Mary L. Arello of Worcester, John A. Heroux (Virginia) of Leominster, Jean E. Byrne (Greg) of Grafton and Dr. Paul J. Heroux (Lauren) of Holden; thirteen step-grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Leicester, the youngest of William G. and Lydia (Poirier) St. Onge’s six children.
Therese graduated from Holy Name High School and received a Bachelor of Music from Anna Maria College, a Master of Arts Degree from College of St. Rose, Albany, NY and studied voice at the New England Conservatory of Music. As a young woman, Therese joined the order of the Sisters of Ste. Anne, taking her vows in Canada. She taught in parochial schools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island prior to taking a new path and leaving religious life. She taught music in Auburn public schools, retiring in 1993. Therese was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church at Holy Family Parish, where she served on the Planning Board and was chairman of the Social-Hospitality Committee. She was a member of the church choir where she was the soprano soloist. Therese enjoyed reading, playing and listening to music and, especially, spending time with her precious grandchildren.
Calling hours are Monday, August 1, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., Worcester, MA 01604. A funeral with a Mass at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, will be on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 10 AM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Renovation Fund, 20 Hamilton St. Worcester, MA 01604.
