Mary Jane McCarthy
Former longtime Tewksbury resident and foster mother

HUDSON, NH: Mary Jane (Donahue) McCarthy, age 83, a resident of Londonderry, NH for the past 9 years, passed away at Fairview Senior Living in Hudson, NH on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

She was the beloved wife of John P. “Jack” McCarthy, who passed away on July 11, 2008.

Born in Cambridge on December 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John Donahue and the late Rose (Godbout) Donahue.

Mary Jane was raised in Cambridge, Jamaica Plain and Tewksbury.

She attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School.

Mary Jane and her late husband Jack raised their family on the McCarthy Farm once located on Andover Street in Tewksbury for 33 years until moving to Chichester, NH, where she lived for several years until moving to Londonderry, NH.

Mary Jane was a member of the Londonderry Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing bingo and cribbage.

In earlier years, she enjoyed traveling throughout New England with her husband in their motorhome.

Survivors include children, Lisa Mellen and her husband William, of Nashua, NH, Paula Robson and her husband Mike, of Londonderry, NH, Lynda LeClair and her husband Andrew, of Tyngsborough, Peter McCarthy and his wife Debbie, of Auburn, NH, Cisa Mulligan and her husband Rob, of Strafford, NH, Chuckie McCarthy and his wife, Valerie, of Merrimack, NH: Jackie Roper (who Mary Jane thought of as a daughter) and her husband Tommy, of Littleton, and Armand Beliveau (who Mary Jane thought of as a son) and his wife Annette, of Haverhill: her brother, John Donahue and his wife Duffy, of Las Vegas, NV: her sister, Janet Calder and her late husband James, of Tyngsborough: 26 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Calling hours are Monday, August 1st from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Tuesday, August 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
