Dini, Leda Livia - 97, of Somerville, sadly passed away on July 25, 2022 in the presence of her devoted cousin Keith G. Biagiotti. Born in New York City on February 21, 1925, she was the loving daughter of the late Gina (Puccini) and Claudio J. Dini who immigrated to the U.S. from Tuscany, Italy. Together with her parents, Leda moved to Somerville in the late 1920's settling in the Winter Hill area.
Leda graduated from Somerville High School Class of 1943. She continued her education at Emmanuel College receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree and went on to receive a Master of Arts in Education from Suffolk University. Leda was an elementary school teacher for almost four decades at the Grimmons School and the Winter Hill Community School both in Somerville. After her retirement, Leda dedicated 13 years of service to the Cambridge/Somerville Chapter of Massachusetts Citizens for Life. In 2015, she was presented with the Local Chapter Service Award for Outstanding Chapter Contributions.
Always a faithful and generous woman, she will be missed by many, including the generations of students whose lives she impacted.
Leda leaves behind several cousins in the U.S., Canada and Italy.
All services will be held at St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford on Saturday, July 30, Visitation from 10 - 11 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Services will conclude with Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
