George Gray passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 22 after a brave battle with cancer. He went to be with the Lord at the age of 79, having enjoyed his entire life on Cape Cod near the beaches that he loved. George proudly served his country in the Air Force training dogs for security purposes. In recent years he operated his own painting business, supported countless members of AA, and married the love of his life.
George is predeceased by his mother, Amy (Paul) Gray; his father, George Gray; and his sister Linda Frasier. He is survived by his wife of 3-1/2 years, Virginia Winslow-Gray. George is lovingly remembered by his sons, Christopher, Brian, and Matthew Gray and Matthew’s wife, Caroline Gray; stepchildren Coleman, Nathaniel, Mitchell, and Olivia Hooper; a grandson Justin Gray and Virginia’s grandchildren Brynn and Greyson; his sister Sharon and her husband David Martel; his nieces, Sharonlee Napier and Cherie Medeiros; his nephews, Michael Frasier and James Aalto; and his cousin, George Meservey, Jr.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centers in Boston and Plymouth, the Veterans’ Administration, and to all those offering prayers on George’s behalf. A Celebration of Life will be held on a date to be announced in the Fall, which was George’s favorite time of year.
“Well done, good and faithful servant”. -Matthew 25:23
