CHICOPEE – Raymond P. Dumais, 87, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on November 5, 1934, a beloved son of the late Joseph R. and Rosealma (Provost) Dumais. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and had lived in Chicopee his entire life. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He was a member of the Local 98 Steel Workers Union and was employed as a Crane Operator at Springfield Steel and later at Encon, Inc. During his leisure time, he enjoyed snowmobiling and working on his own snowmobiles. He also enjoyed swimming and working on automobiles, tractors and anything Ford produced. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his loving brother, Omer Dumais of Chicopee; his longtime companion, Claire Menard of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two loving sisters and brothers in law, Theresa Bockhouse and her husband, Arthur, and Edna Weston and her husband, Robert; and his loving sister in law, Jeanne Dumais. His Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (please meet directly at the Church). His Burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. There are no visiting hours. His Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Sainte Rose de Lima Church, c/o 15 Chapel Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
