Obituary

LIMINGTON - Jo Ann Sanborn Reardon, 77, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on March 10, 1945 to Virginia (Cribb) and Donald Sanborn. She grew up in Gorham and in 1963, married John (Jack) Reardon. Jo Ann and Jack met at Harmon’s Beach on Sebago Lake where they spent summers with their families. They also raised a family and spent over 40 years living on Harmon’s Beach.
Jo Ann worked for the Town of Standish for 25 years, first as a dispatcher and then as the Code Enforcement Officer’s Secretary. During this time, she was an active member of the Sebago Lake Congregational Church and served as a volunteer for Standish Rescue Unit.

In 2005, Jo Ann and Jack moved to the woods of Limington where Jo Ann became an active member of the South Limington Free Baptist Church. She also volunteered at the Limington Town Hall during elections.

Jo Ann enjoyed cooking, gardening, hiking, camping and being outdoors in general. She loved visiting the Moosehead Lake area, especially Seboomook, where she and Jack had a camp for numerous years. In her 50s she started tenting and backpacking and for many summers Jo Ann joined her daughter and grandkids on backpacking trips in Baxter State Park. She also loved a road trip. Jo Ann, Jack and the grandkids explored many places on the East Coast in their Winnebago and fifth wheel over the years. Her longest road trip was to Yellowstone National Park, which she did twice, visiting the Grand Canyon, Bryce National Park, The Grand Tetons, Mount Rushmore and The Badlands along the way.

Jo Ann was a kind and generous person with a great sense of humor. She was always thinking of others and enjoyed serving her community through her church affiliations and volunteer work. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband, Jack; her daughters Dianna Reardon, Cindy Reardon and husband, Jon Felty; her son-in-law Scott Townsend; her grandchildren, Jesika Leary and husband Kevin, Jake Townsend and wife Kerry, and Kaylee Townsend; her great grandchildren, Ethan Leary, Katie Leary, Elliott Leary, Natalie Townsend and Colson Townsend.

A memorial service will be held at South Limington Free Baptist Church on Saturday, July 30, at. 2pm. There will be refreshments downstairs after the service for those who would like to express their condolences or share memories of Jo Ann.
