Shawn J. MacFarland, 59, of New Bedford died July 23, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in New Bedford, son of John C. Arruda of Las Vegas and the late Beverly (MacFarland) Lucas, he lived in Fairhaven, Fall River and New Bedford.
He was formerly employed by Marc's Auto Service in Wareham and as a special police officer at Southcoast Condominiums in New Bedford.
He enjoyed shooting at the range, Bingo, watching football and being a DJ.
Survivors include his father; 2 sons, Shawn MacFarland, Jr. and his wife Rose of Ontario, Canada and Elvino MacFarland of New Bedford; 4 daughters, Debra McGillick and her husband Chad of Somerset, Sarah MacFarland and Amanda MacFarland, both of Mattapoisett and Elizabeth Torteson of Grafton; a step-daughter, Cheryl Wasilowski of New Bedford; his girlfriend, Christine Powers of New Bedford; 2 brothers, John Arruda, Jr. of New Bedford and Darren Arruda of North Carolina; 6 sisters, Trisha Jordan of Las Vegas, Julie Hanks of Dartmouth, Deborah Correia of Somerset, Annemarie Chiappini of Wareham, Donna Cornejo of Taunton, Brenda Ouellette of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren, Axel Velez, Lucas McGillick, Devon MacFarland, Sariyah McGillick, Connor MacFarland and Brooke MacFarland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late David Ouellette and Lisa Samagaio.
His visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 3rd from 4-8 PM with a prayer service at 4 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
