Obituary

Roselyn M. Machado, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Palm Center in Chelmsford.

She was born in Lowell on May 19, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Manuel Machado and the late Bertha (Viera) Machado. She was raised and educated in the Lowell area, graduating from Lowell High School. She eventually became a receptionist and worked in Dr Kokinos’ Dental office for many years before her retirement in 2004.

Roselyn loved dancing and in her younger days she could be found on the dance floor at the legendary Commodore Ballroom and the Mosley on the Charles Ballroom. She also enjoyed scratch tickets, trips to Foxwoods and never missed a chance at the daily crossword puzzle in any newspaper she could get her hands on. More than anything else, family was her world. She adored her family, especially her siblings and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Brown and her husband, Herb, of Rhode Island, her brothers in law, Frank Lorenzo of Lowell, Anthony Coviello of Tewksbury, her sister in law, Delores Machado of Dracut, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and countless friends, including the Silva family, who were amongst her dearest of friends.

Besides her parents, Roselyn was predeceased by her siblings, the late John Machado, the late Mary Sousa, the late Joseph Machado, the late Virginia Coviello, her twin sister, the late Rose Lorenzo, the late Edward Machado, her longtime companion, the late John McGrath, her sister in law, the late Teresa Machado and her brother in law, the late Victor Sousa.

On Thursday, July 28, 2022, all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 978-458-6816. Her funeral mass will then be offered at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 893 Central Street in Lowell. Procession will follow for committal prayers at St. Patrick Cemetery.
