Joseph T. Silva, Sr., 88, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Marie A. (Labate) Silva.
Born in North Easton, he was the son of the late Anthony M. and Mary (Pedro) Silva.
Joseph served his country proudly in the United States Airforce during the Korean War, enlisting in 1953 and honorably discharged in 1957.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor for the United States Postal Service and worked in the Whitman, Brockton, and North Easton Post Office locations.
Hardworking, honest, loving are just several terms to describe him. He was a sincere, compassionate, and humble man. Joe loved to make people laugh, see them smile, and make their lives a little “brighter”. He was very proud of his family. An avid guitar player, music was in his soul, he enjoyed word searches, cowboy movies, and loved his cats, Callie and Sophie.
Mr. Silva leaves his children, Susan M. Jones, of Plymouth, Joseph T. Silva, Jr., of Taunton, and Michael A. Silva, of Brockton; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Christine A. Mather and was preceded in death by his eight siblings.
To honor Joseph’s wishes, his funeral services will be privately held. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. A committal service and interment in Calvary Cemetery will be held at a late date.
Arrangements entrusted to the Conley Funeral & Cremation Service of Brockton.
