Colleen E. Gallo
Former Tewksbury School Department and Tewksbury School Committee Secretary

HAVERHILL: Colleen E. (McHugh) Gallo, age 85, recently of Haverhill, a former longtime resident of Methuen and Tewksbury, passed away at Penacook Place in Haverhill on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

She was the beloved wife of Robert P. Gallo, who passed away on October 28, 1979, and longtime companion of the late Robert F. Sheehan, who passed away on May 30, 2022.

Born in East Boston on February 28, 1937, she was the daughter of the late John McHugh and the late Edith (Natale) McHugh.

Colleen was raised in Somerville, Medford, and Woburn.

She attended local schools and was the Salutatorian for the Woburn High School Class of 1955.

Prior to the passing of her late husband, Colleen was employed as the secretary for Curt Gowdy at the radio station known as WCCM in Lawrence, the Tewksbury School Department as well as the Tewksbury School Committee.

She resided in Tewksbury for 27 years and Methuen for over 30 years until recently moving to Haverhill.

Colleen enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox, spending winters in Pompano Beach, FL, gardening and traveling.

She is survived by four sons, Paul M. Gallo and his wife Carole, of Hampton Beach, NH, Mark J. Gallo and his wife Penny, of Sebastian, FL, Barry R. Gallo, of New York, NY, and Scott C. Gallo, of Pompano Beach, FL: two grandchildren, Taylor L. Gallo and Brett R. Gallo: two great grandchildren, Landon and Emerson Gallo: one sister, Ann Marie Sillari and her late husband Daniel, of Medford: one brother, John A. McHugh and his wife Carol, of Key Largo, FL. She leaves one niece, three nephews and many extended family members and friends.

Calling hours are Tuesday, July 26, from 9-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. Tewksbury and interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation, www.parkinson.org. are suggested.
