Mrya (Mrgudich) Orth, 88, of Wayland, died comfortably surrounded by her family on July 18, 2022 at Beaumont of Northborough following a period of declining health.
She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the daughter of the late John Neil Mrgudich and Mary (Lalicker) Mrgudich.
Mrya is survived by her beloved husband C. Alan Orth of Wayland. She was the devoted mother of David Orth and his wife Wendy of Leicester; Sharon Powell and her husband William of Marlborough and Connie Williams and her husband Larry of Leominster. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and two nieces.
She has been a resident of Wayland for the past 59 years and previously resided in Wantagh, New York. She received her BA in Zoology from the University of Connecticut and her Masters Degree in Science and Information Systems from the Graduate School of Engineering at Northeastern University. She had a distinguished career as a Software Engineer and was associated with the Lotus Company and Netegrity Company prior to her retirement.
She was involved with The Christian Women’s Club, the Friends of the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge for many years and was a member of a Dungeons and Dragons Club. Mrya established her own stained glass business known as GlassLight which was in Sudbury. She enjoyed painting, woodcarving, sewing and a variety of crafts.
She attended Grace Chapel in East Lexington. She will be fondly remembered by her family as one who was a people person, friends with everyone and always willing to lend a hand. She enjoyed time spent in her garden in Wayland and loved her animals.
Private family interment will be held in the Orth family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 11:30 am at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rt 30), Wayland with Pastor Thomas Lee of Grace Chapel officiating.
