Judith “Judi” Calabro, 80, of Whitman, MA, formerly of Braintree, MA joined her husband in heaven Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Saint Joseph’s Manor.
Judith was born in Weymouth to the late John A. Stenberg and Eleanor A. (Toohey) Stenberg.
Judi was an Archbishop Williams High School graduate. She went on to get a medical degree and worked many years at the Brockton Hospital as a medical transcriber.
Judi was the beloved wife of 59 years to the predeceased Robert Calabro. Sister to Christine Stenberg of Litchfield, Maine and the late Ellen (Stenberg) Biagi of Brandon, Mississippi.
She is the beloved mother of John and wife Diane Calabro of Hanover, MA, Susan and husband Peter Poirier of Quincy, MA, Cynthia and husband Paul Kearns of Whitman, MA and the late Elizabeth “Lisa” Calabro. She is the cherished Nana of Jim, Maria, and Nick Calabro; Brian, Bailee, and the late Theresa Poirier; and Jaclyn, Paul, Chris and Sophia Kearns.
Judi had many hobbies. She loves to crochet, knit, and sew. She always made hand knit sweaters for all her grandchildren when they were young, and her giraffe blankets were always a favorite shower gift for any baby showers in the family. She was an avid reader and loved her mystery novels. She could often be found doing her crossword puzzles, in the kitchen baking with her grandchildren, or at the casino with Bobby (or home depot as they would say).
Judi was the caretaker of the family and she will be truly missed by anyone who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Thursday July 28 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, and her funeral service to be held on Friday at 10:00 AM in the Chapel. Burial will follow in the Saint James Cemetery.
