Martin S. Tupaj, age 78, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Marie A. (Boutin) Tupaj, to whom he was wed on May 7, 1966.
Born in Fall River, MA on June 12, 1944, he was a loving son of the late Martin and Edith (Bernado) Tupaj.
Marty grew up in Warren, Rhode Island and was a 1962 graduate of Warren High School. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Following four years of service, he was honorably discharged on October 21, 1966 with the rank of Airman First Class.
A resident of Mansfield for the past fifty-three years, Mr. Tupaj had been employed as a school bus driver at Holmes Transportation in Norfolk for nineteen years and had previously worked for twenty-six years at the Foxboro Company.
Marty’s greatest gift in life was his adoring family, whom he loved dearly. Along with his wife Marie he enjoyed traveling, especially to National Parks. His hobbies included hiking, canoeing, boating, biking and when younger, photography. Marty had the ability to fix just about anything and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his loving wife of fifty-six years, he is survived by his devoted children: Stephen Tupaj and his wife Melanie of Vermont, Alan Tupaj and his wife Barbara of California, Scott Tupaj and his wife Cenia of Arlington, Cheryl Johnson and her husband Edward of South Carolina and Andrew Tupaj and his wife Marie of Billerica. He was the dear brother of Mary Miller of Bristol, Rhode Island, the late John Tupaj and is also survived by his cherished 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, as well as his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, July 31st from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
A funeral service, in celebration of his life, will be held on Monday, August 1st at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
