Edwin A. Fitzgerald, 84, of Medway died Monday, July 18, 2022, at the retirement community of Anchor Bay at Pocasset in Johnston, Rhode Island. He was the beloved husband of Nancy J. (Chemidlin) Fitzgerald since October of 1965.
Born in Newark, New Jersey on May 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Edwin D. and Helen F. (Ulrich) Fitzgerald. Besides his wife, he is survived by three children; Caryn Sullivan, Brian Fitzgerald and Elizabeth Connors and four grandchildren; Charles Sullivan, Noelle Sullivan, Aidan Connors and Lucas Connors. Ed is also survived by his brother, Richard Fitzgerald of Florida, many nieces and nephews, and a legion of friends. He was the brother of the late Carol Lynn Stohl and great-grandfather of the late Juniper Grace.
Ed was a resident of Medway from 1986 -2018 and moved to Johnston RI in 2021 via Barnegat, New Jersey. Ed had worked at Dennison Manufacturing in Southfield, Michigan and transferred to Framingham in 1986. He started his own business, Labeling Technologies in 1992. Ed was a very social man, staying busy in retirement with the Medway Lions Club and the Dover American Legion where he served as a steward for many years.
He proudly served in the Air Force as a radar technician from 1955-1959.
Ed was a proud man who lived life on his own terms. In the end, he was pleased and in peace because he had the opportunity to say goodbye on his terms.
