WORCESTER___Marie Mazile Saphyr, 79, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2022 in St. Vincent Hospital.
She leaves her husband of 50 years, Pierre Andre Saphyr, a sister, Rose Croyante Mazile and 18 nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her son, Kadhafi Saphyr and by four siblings, Antonine Mazile, Samuel Mazile, Annuel Mazile and Jean Claude Mazile. Marie was born in Coteaux, Haiti a daughter of the late Odinor and Celimene (Lexine) Mazile. Marie was educated in Haiti and earned her Associate’s Degree.
Mrs. Saphyr was a teacher and educator in Haiti primarily for elementary school and was later an Assistant Principal. Marie came to Worcester in 2009. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, and its francophone community. Family and prayer were very important to Marie. She loved to pray and say the rosary often and was a member of several charismatic groups including, Recomfort.
The funeral will be held on Saturday July 23, 2022 at 9:30 AM in St. Joseph Church at Holy Family Parish, 35 Hamilton Street. Calling hours are Saturday July 23, 2022 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM in St. Joseph Church prior to the Mass. Entombment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
