Obituary


Ed Baranowski, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022 at his home in East Walpole, Massachusetts.

Ed had a fantastic career working at GTE and General Dynamics for over 4 decades and traveled to many countries across the globe designing and installing satellite communication stations. He loved talking about his adventures in Algeria, Chad, Chile, the UK and Hawaii.

At the age of 18, Ed joined the Walpole Sportsman’s Association where he was an active member for 59 years. He was a natural at trap shooting & won many awards including Sportsman of the Year in 1969.
Ed also shared a love of fishing with his dad at the mouth of the Cape Cod Canal in Sandwich and was an active member of the North Walpole Fish & Game Club. He loved sports and participated in numerous leagues, including softball, bowling, and golfing over the years. He enjoyed participating in friendly card games at the club or among friends and loved to harass his colleague’s if they made a mistake during a “pitch” game. Ed was handy in construction and his generosity was revealed by assisting friends with design work, construction and renovation on multiple projects. Ed was an excellent cook and always hosted a Christmas day celebration with his famous pepperoni bread and grape jelly meatballs.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Michael & Helen Baranowski, and his brother, Gerald. He is survived by numerous family members living nearby on the South Shore & an incredible group of friends with whom he shared special memories throughout his lifetime in East Walpole & Sandwich, Massachusetts.
