Norma D. (Nicholson)(Walsh) Thorup, 92, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at her residency in Lexington. Norma had previously lived in Tewksbury for ten years. She was the beloved widow of the late Edward Thorup who passed away in 2007.
The daughter of the late Noel and Viola Nicholson, she was born February 25, 1930 in Acushnet, MA and was raised and educated in Medford, MA. She was a graduate of Medford High School with the class of 1949. She met her first husband the late Robert F. Walsh and they moved to Burlington to raise their family. There she was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and active in the choir. One of her many talents was playing the piano by ear.
Dorothy worked as a exporter for MA/Com in Burlington before she retired and relocated to Chatham. For over 20 years she resided with her second husband Edward C Thorup on Bucks Creek Road. During that time she returned to the work force, working at Abco Metals in Chatham in the same field as her previous employment.
Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, spending quality time with her family every chance she was able. She also enjoyed traveling, especially when family was by her side. There were many road trips along the east coast as well as vacations in Bermuda, the beaches of Florida and Disneyland with her grandchildren.
Her survivors include her children, Jeffrey A. Walsh of Middleboro; Robin L. (Walsh) Vonkahle and her husband, Michael, of Wilmington; the grandchildren she adored, Zachary Vonkahle,Tyler Vonkahle and Christopher Ferro as well as her beloved great grandchildren, Shawn Michael Ferro and Justice Ferro; also many extended family members and close friends.
You are invited to her visitation on Sunday, July 24, from 2 until 5 p.m. at the TEWKSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 1 DEWEY STREET, TEWKSBURY 978-851-2061. Her Funeral Service will be held at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
