Obituary

Jack Derick, age 30 of Franklin, MA, loving son, brother, cousin, nephew, and grandson, passed away July 15th.

Jack was born in 1991 in Newton and grew up in Franklin.

To those who knew and loved Jack, many things about him will be missed.

Jack was an avid Boston sports fan. He also loved animals, fishing, and music.

Jack loved fiercely and was enthusiastic about life. Anyone who knew Jack thought he was hands-down one of the funniest people to walk this planet. His humor and compassion for others helped many.

Jack was an intensely spiritual person, intellectually curious, and a deep thinker. He also spent a lot of time outside absorbing nature.

One of Jack’s incredible strengths was his ability to identify with anyone from any walk of life.
Countless stories have been told of Jack’s willingness to help anyone he encountered that may have been less fortunate than him.

Whether he was sharing a sandwich, cigarette, or conversation, Jack knew how to create connections.

His signature touch was his warm smile and friendly hug. Jack touched the lives of many people.

His family is very proud of his works on this earth. Jack will be greatly missed by all.

Jack is survived by his mother Sherry Derick, his father James Derick, stepmother Jody Derick, paternal grandparents Philip and Gail Derick, maternal grandfather Desmond (Nadine Warner) McLaughlin, brother Michael (Pamela) Derick and niece, Alessia, brother Christopher Derick, aunt Sandra (David) Rabe and cousins Annie, Teddy, and Caroline, aunt Linda (Christopher) DeFonce and cousins Julia and Sophia, aunt Jennifer (Matthew) Hurley and cousins Ryan, Meghan, and Caroline, aunt Alison Derick-Northcutt and cousin Theo. Jack was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Gloria McLaughlin.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday July 22nd, at 10AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a service in Trinity Episcopal Church 47 East St. RT140 Wrentham, MA at 11AM.

His interment will be held privately.

Calling hours are Thursday July 21st, from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
