Rita F. Spirito (Spera) passed away peacefully at home in the company of her loved ones on July 12th. She was 89. A life-long Medford resident she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (LaSelva) Spera. A devoted wife, mother, and friend to many, Rita will always be remembered as a kind and gentle person. She was a devoted homemaker and also shared in the responsibilities of helping her husband manage his catering business. She enjoyed a wonderful social life and involvement in good deeds for the community.
The beloved wife of Vincent N. Spirito, Rita was a devoted mother to Doreen and Mike. She was a dear sister-in-law of George Spirito and his wife Sylvia of Georgia, Bill Spirito and his late wife Barbara, the late Pat and Josephine LaFrazia, John and Terry Spirito. She was the aunt of Lisa and Annmarie and many other nieces and nephews and dear cousin to Anna Tinker, Anthony and Assunta LaFrazia and Patty Belanger.
The family wishes to thank all the home health aides, nurses and medical staff who not only cared for Rita, they also cared about her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, July 19th from 9 – 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Rita's name to the VFW Post 1012 or Knights of Columbus of Medford where Rita shared many happy occasions with family and friends.
