Patricia E. Barrett, 76, of Medway, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 9, 2022 with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.
Born in Presque Isle, Maine on March 4, 1946, she was the oldest daughter of the late Matthew “Frank” and Hilda (Thibodeau) Barrett.
Pat grew up in Winthrop, Maine and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1964. She went to Maine Medical School and graduated in 1966 with a degree in X-Ray Technology. Pat then made her way to Boston where she worked at the New England Baptist Hospital. Years later, her thirst for learning new things pushed Pat in a new career direction, and she began working as a Director of Event Coordinating. Pat wasn’t one to stay in one place and after years of Event Coordinating, she switched her career again and did contract work for the MBTA. Her proudest accomplishment would be the book she co-authored with her dear friend Joe Sullivan. When Pat set goals, she always reached them.
Pat not only kept moving in her career, she enjoyed traveling as well. Among her favorite trips were the two she took to Ireland with her sister and cousin. She even got her dual citizenship in Ireland.
Pat loved spending time with her friends and family the most. She was always ready to get together for a great conversation over a glass of wine. Pat was a great friend to all that knew her. Whether it was jokes with her trainer, politics with friends, or a heart to heart with her daughter, she never missed a chance to laugh, listen or connect. However, the most important people in Pat’s life were her grandchildren. She had a special relationship with each one individually. They always knew Nana was there and supporting every move they made, even traveling with them to many hockey tournaments all over the US and Canada. She loved watching all 3 kids play hockey and was their number one fan.
Pat is survived by her beloved daughter Dawn-Marie Carr and her son-in-law John of Medway, three grandchildren, Jack, 18 (currently enlisted in the U.S. Army), Drew, 16 and Ava, 12.
She is also survived by her sister Colleen Lunt of Winthrop, ME, her brother-in-law Ansel Warner of Maine, her niece Allysen Garrett and her husband Matt Garrett, and two nephews Matt Lunt and his wife Ashley and Christopher Warner. Pat was predeceased by her sister Kathleen “Kit” Warner and brother-in-law Stephen Lunt.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for late August.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Pat’s honor to the Chron’s and Colitis Foundation. www.chronsandcolitisfoundation.org
