Obituary

Michael W. Duran II passed away on July 4, 2022. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, father, and friend. He will be deeply missed by so many. Michael was born on October 12, 1972 in Ventura, California to Michael "Billy" and Susanne Duran. He graduated in 1990 from Ventura High School. Michael is survived by his father Michael "Billy" Duran (Anna), Brother Jim Duran (Pam), Sister Deanna Alonzo (Matt), Son Ariah Duran, Daughter Keira Duran and Tracy Duran (wife). Many nieces and nephews including three great nieces and nephew and Goddaughter Aliya Hernandez. Michael is preceded in death by his mother Susanne Duran.

Michael loved to live his life to the fullest and we express this wholeheartedly. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and he loved attending important milestones for all. In his younger years, he was an avid chef working in many prestigious restaurants. Michael was a huge Dodgers and Denver Broncos fan. You could find him at many of their games. You could especially find him attending the games of his son, daughter, nieces and nephews, cheering & yelling them on with his famous cowbell and airhorn. Michael loved music. He attended tons of concerts and, of course, the first to head into the mosh pit. He was truly that one friend that would do anything for you, even if it was dancing around in a costume at your birthday party! He adored camping and fishing, especially with his dad Billy and son Ariah. Hawaii was his happy place. Michael's greatest achievement would be his children Ariah and Keira whom he loved beyond measure.

Michael worked in the assisted living industry as a Regional Manager where he thrived and enjoyed helping families place their loved ones in his care. He was a member of the Elks and Moose lodge.

Michael's mother passed away from early onset of Alzheimer's. After this, Michael became an advocate who led the way to find a cure for this disease. He was always a lead fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association in Southern California. His achievements took him to national levels of leadership. Because of this we ask in lieu of flowers please donate to your local chapter Alzheimer’s Association.

Services will be on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 11:30am at The River Community Church. A reception to follow.
