William Carl (Bill) Phillips, 66, of Ventura, California, passed away on July 7, 2022 in Ventura. Bill was born in Dearborn, Michigan to Robert and Doris Phillips on May 31, 1956. He went to high school at Harrison High and graduated in 1974. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from Western Michigan University.
Bill enjoyed fishing, boating and golfing. During his career he traveled widely, from Africa to Azerbaijan. Bill was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed science fiction and mysteries. Many of his neighbors referred to “Billy” as the “Sheriff of Bath Lane” since he was adamant about keeping undesirable elements away from the lane.
Bill is survived by his brother Don and sister Lisa; nieces Bonnie, Holly and Elizabeth and nephews Adam and James. Bill is also survived by great nieces Brittany, Jordan, Samantha and Bella and great nephews Lowell, Gavin, A.J., Lucas, Logan and James Jr.

Bill was much loved by his family, friends and neighbors--many of whom became life-long friends. He will be missed.
A memorial service with Bill’s ashes scattered at sea is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
