Herman B. Hovermale Jr., 76, of Anderson, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 13, 2022.
He was born on September 6, 1945 in Anderson, the son of Herman and Oretta (Gustin) Hovermale. He graduated in 1964 from Anderson High School and attended Anderson College.
Herman served in the US Navy and later worked 41 years in skilled trades with General Motors. He loved sports,
vacationing in Sanibel Island Florida and spending time with his family.
Herman is survived by his wife 54 years, Carol (Fox) Hovermale; two sons, Bill (Nicci) Hovermale and Ted (Carrie) Hovermale; four grandchildren; Shelby (Ben) Kirkwood, William Hovermale Jr., Leo Hovermale, Zoe Hovermale; four great grandchildren, Bennett, Aubree, Emma, and Kendall Kirkwood; siblings, Phyllis Jobe, Betty Fenton, Edward Edmonson, Avis East, Janice Jackson, Sandy Grant; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his aunt and uncle who helped raise him, William F. and Mabel Hovermale.
Herman’s family is planning a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Shriner’s Children Hospital.
