Robert Louis "Bobby" Johnson, 76, of New Bedford passed peacefully July 9, 2022 at home.
Born in Newport, RI, son of the late Clifford and Virginia (Weston) Johnson, he was raised in Newport and attended Roger High School. He lived for a short time in Norfolk, VA where he developed his own independent business in home repairs.
Growing up in a loving family, Robert learned at an early age to be compassionate and helpful. He loved his family. He enjoyed listening to jazz music, reminiscing about his brother playing jazz, hanging out with his brothers, playing cards with friends, always talking about how beautiful his sisters are and taking time to just be with himself in quietness.
The family would like to give a certain appreciation and special thanks to the PCAs that took such good care of him during his convalescence.
Survivors include his 3 children, Angelina Hall and her husband Reginald, Robert L. Johnson, Jr., all of New Bedford and Nathin Johnson of Fall River; 6 grandchildren, Brandon Cabral, Angelina Johnson and her fiancé Trésean Branco, Sabrina Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Abigail Johnson and Salina Johnson; 5 great-grandchildren, Kingston Cabral, Irie Cabral, Trésean Branco, Caspian Branco and Souleil Branco; his siblings, Kevin Johnson and his wife Marie of Wareham, Clifford Johnson of Portsmouth, RI, Rosalie Weston, Virginia Lombard, Pamela Massey and Gary Johnson, all of Middletown, RI, Dawn Daniels and her husband Tommy, Cheryl Torrey and her husband Larry, all of Chesapeake, VA, and William "Peasy" Johnson and his wife Vale of Yorktown, VA; his brother-in-law, Leon Bradley of Portsmouth, RI; his sisters-in-law, Janice Johnson of New Bedford, and Judith Rosenthal of Middletown, RI; his beloved aunt, Beatrice Link of Middletown, RI; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was the brother of the late Phyllis Bradley, Harold Weston, Billy Weston, Charlene Willington, Arlene Johnson, David Johnson, Gordon Johnson, and Wayne Johnson and brother-in-law of the late Dianne Johnson.
His Homegoing Service will be held on Monday, July 18th at 11 AM in the Union Baptist Church, 109 Court St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of one's choice.
