Paul W. Devine, 91, of Avon, MA passed away July 12, 2022.
Paul was born in Boston in 1930 to John and Mary Devine. He went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he married the love of his life Christine. They moved to Avon where they raised four children. He lived in Avon for 60 years.
He grew up in Dorchester and worked for Stop and Shop for 48 years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed winters in Las Vegas and Arizona, as well as summers by his pool with family. Family meant everything to him. In his later years, he enjoyed bowling, and was quite good at it. He was known around town for walking miles every day and saying hello to all he passed by. He was a regular at IKEA for many years, getting his “steps in” with his wife. Walking was his favorite past time. One of his more recent travels was through Honor Flight New England, where he was flown with other veterans to Washington DC and saw the memorials that were dedicated to the men and women that served. A day he reflected on many times.
His beloved wife, Christine and his great grandchild Abel predecease him.
He is survived by his son Paul A. Devine and his wife Cheryl of Abington, his daughters, Donna Devine of Avon and her fiancé Kevin McHugh, Maryann Bonfilio and her husband Paul of Plymouth, Diane Madden and her husband James of Gilbert, AZ, his sister-in-law Ann DeLuca of Malden, and brother-in-law Joseph Logue of Florida. He also leaves eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren one great-great grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his daughter Donna, granddaughter Heather and great-granddaughter Hailey that he shared a home.
A funeral mass will be held July 23, 2022 at 9:30 am, St. Michael’s church in Avon, MA. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Honor Flight New England.
