Kristine Katherine Hogan-Snell (“Kray”) of Bridgewater moved on to the next part of her journey Friday evening, July 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Krissy was born in Stoughton and raised in Brockton, a daughter of the late John C. Hogan and Darelene Hogan-Flannery.
A 1993 graduate of Brockton High School, she earned her bachelor's degree in social work from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy.
A lover of life, Krissy was a remarkable mother, sister, cousin, aunt, daughter, wife, and friend.
Krissy’s greatest joy and her soul’s purpose are her children: Christopher Royal Snell III (“Bubba”) and Carlee Joyce Snell (“Lady”). She is survived by: the father of her children, co-conspirator of all things, and best friend Christopher Royal Snell, Jr.; her sister, her Irish twin, true partner in life, and sweetest swee, Lisa Marie Hogan; her sister's partner, Nicole Garcia; nieces Nevaeh Kristine Johnson ("OBG"), Lilah Mae Johnson ("Angel") and Alexandra Jean Edgerly; nephew Graham Richard Edgerly; mother-in-law Joyce Warmington; cousins Randie Mae, Justin, Jay, & Josh Wegener, Susan Leonard, Thomas Hogan, and many more; beloved aunts and uncles: Auntie Mary, Uncle Leo, Auntie Mal, Uncle Bunka, and many more.
Krissy also had an incredible circle of friends she called family: Bonnie Lemon, Tracy Bellevue, Cathy Aloisi, Tara Bolger, Robin Conathan, Bob DuBois, Keith and Sarah Bellevue, Dave and Tina Porter, Chris and Debbie Kwolek, and many, many more.
I won’t say that Krissy lost her battle to cancer or that “she fought till the end.” Though this is a very true and accurate analogy, I just don’t see it like this when I think of what my sister lived through for the past two and a half years.
Krissy knew her diagnosis, she knew it was terminal, she knew her time was limited, and though she was petrified of what was to come, she vowed to do everything and anything she could to prolong her life. She often said, "I will never stop trying; I will never quit!" But it was not in the spirit of fighting — it was in the spirit of living.
She gathered up all her inner “Kray” and privately accepted her circumstances with a phenomenal attitude and supernatural level of sweetness. To me, that is far more difficult to do than any fight she could have fought. And so Krissy quietly and gently made a choice;
…and she lived.
She taught us how to face fear
…and she lived.
She taught us resilience with indescribable grace
…and she lived.
She taught us how to be alone
…and she lived.
She taught us how to laugh in the middle of a raging hurricane
…and she lived.
She taught us how to rock a side pony
…and she lived.
She taught us to do whatever it is that makes you “oh so happy”
...and she lived.
She taught us that Baker Mayfield is far more than just a player in the NFL
…and she lived.
She taught us what selflessness actually looks like
…and she lived.
She taught us how to throw a house party while laying in a hospital bed
...and she lived.
She taught us to accept that life can be brutally cruel and unforgiving
...and she lived.
She taught us how to handle physical pain like a Brockton boxer after 12 rounds
...and she lived.
She taught us how music has the power to make it all go away, if you allow it to
...and she lived.
She taught us what unconditional love feels like to receive
…and she lived.
She taught us to enjoy every bedazzling bite of eggplant parm and every glorious sip of almond joy coffee
...and she lived.
She taught us the definition of sacrifice
…and she lived.
She taught us a whole lot about penguins, seals, otters, lions, elephants, bears, and ALL the wonders of animal planet
…and she lived.
She taught us how to let go with 3 small words: “It will pass”
...and she lived.
She taught us that Gordon Ramsay and Selling Sunset are in fact quite binge worthy
...and she lived.
She taught us how to be kind and thoughtful to others regardless of how terrible you may feel
...and she lived.
She taught us how to lose absolutely everything you think you have control of
...and she lived.
And then, when she had nothing left to give, or so we thought…
she taught us how to die.
As vast as the sands and stars, as deep as the seas and sky, as far as the furthest of all the suns
…Krissy lived.
A service to honor Krissy’s life will be held at the War Memorial Park in West Bridgewater MA
