Richard W. Olsen 75, of Uxbridge, formerly of Medway died suddenly July 11 at his home He was the husband of Barbara (Johnston) Olsen for the past 53 years.
Born in Boston, March 15, 1947, the son of the late Walter and Irene (Boraczewska) Olsen, Mr. Olsen was raised in Brighton and had lived in Medway for 43 years before moving to Uxbridge 3 years ago.
Richard had been a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. He had worked out of the Newtonville office and later the Medway Post Office.
After retirement from the Postal Service he worked at MetroWest Auto and Milford Nissan.
Richard’s biggest joy was his family & traveling with them. He also enjoyed NASCAR and fishing.
He served in the Massachusetts National Guard for 25 years. He attained the rank of Sergeant First Class.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Robert Olsen and his wife Katrina of San Antonio, Texas and his daughter Lynn Carmichael of Franklin and companion Donald Thurber of Sutton.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amber and Andrew.
His calling hours will be held on Friday, July 15 in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway from 4 - 7 p.m.
A service will be held in the funeral home at 6:30 p.m.
Private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Brighton.
