WHITMAN

Mary Ellen (Burns) Austin 83 died Friday at her home, after a period of failing health .She was the wife of the late Robert H. Austin.

Born in Boston daughter of the late Warren Ward and Catherine Burns

Mrs. Austin has been a resident of Whitman for more than 50 years.

She worked as a cook for the Mildred Alford and Colony House Nursing Homes in Abington

She was a member of the Mothers Club at Holy Family Church in Rockland also a Twins Club

Mary Ellen was known for helping people, making bread for the elderly at Christmas time, baking Cookies for the Boy Scouts, helping out with the church bingo, making sandwiches. Donating her time to a good cause. When she would go to the Twins Club she would always bring extra food incase were having a hard time, Mary was very generous when it came to helping people in need always thinking of others till the end. God love her, we do.

Mary Ellen will be sadly missed by her children and grandchildren she was a very devoted mother

She is survived by three sons, Gerald Austin, David, Austin, Sr. both of Whitman, Paul Austin of East Bridgewater 3 daughters Catherine McGuane, Ellen Linn both of Whitman and Angela Curry of Brockton, two sisters Madeline Reilly of Florida and Arlene MacDonald of Wareham; ten grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews She was also the sister of the late Warren Ward.

Her Funeral will be held Wednesday May 17th at 8:15 A.M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00 A.M. in the Holy Ghost Church, School Street Whitman Visiting hours Tuesday May 16th 5-7. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, MA. Donations may be made in her name to the Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA. 02368
