Obituary

“US“101stJames Joseph Roche, 79, a longtime resident of Parris Landing in the Charlestown Navy Yard, passed away at his residence on June 20, 2022.

Born in Boston, Jim was the beloved father of Debora Pereira Luz Gonçalves of Canaa dos Carajás in Pará, Brazil and the only son of the late James Edward Roche and Elizabeth G Roche (Shea), both originally from Boston. Jim was born in Boston, MA, graduated from Christopher Columbus High School (North End) in 1960, a proud Veteran of 101st Airborne Division of the U.S (1961 – 1964) and a graduate of Bentley College of Accounting & Finance in 1968.
Upon his graduation from Bentley, Jim became a long-term employee of Fiduciary Trust, ultimately acting as Director while sitting on its investment committee. Throughout his career, Jim developed strong relationships with his clients and colleagues, many persisting through his passing.

Upon his retirement, Jim cherished time traveling throughout Europe and Brazil with Debora and friends while supporting his favorite futbol clubs Barcelona and Celtic with the boys from South Boston. Always quick witted, Jim enjoyed his time with the early morning crew at the Navy Yard Dunkin and the the Style breakfast club. He also revered the friendships fostered with the teams at Style, Tuttle’s and Parris Landing


Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jim's visiting hours on Thursday morning, July 14, 2022 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.
