William "Kent" Taylor, 82, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at his residence. A visitation will be held for Mr. Taylor on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Taylor at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Garrett-Hillcrest Cemetery in Waynesville, North Carolina, where he will be laid to rest.
Born July 16, 1939, in Greenville, South Carolina, Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Dr. Rosser Howard Taylor and Susie Stokes Taylor and grew up in Cullowhee, North Carolina. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Bonnell Taylor and James “Archie” Taylor. He attended Wake Forest University and received his Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Georgia. Before retiring, he worked as a Research and Development Representative for Bayer Ag Chemical for over 30 years. He loved dogs; loved to fish and hunt; and he loved UGA football. He was a member of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Campbell Taylor of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Susie Taylor Gibson and her husband, Thomas Baron Gibson II of Bolingbroke; and four grandchildren, Thomas Baron Gibson III of Lexington, Kentucky, Dr. Kent Taylor Gibson of Macon, Susie Stokes Gibson of Austin, Texas and Sadie Campbell Gibson of Lawrenceville.
