Ventura Nunez passed away on June 24, 2022, at the age 92 after a 7-year battle with cancer. She was born on August 15th, 1929, to Rafael Barajas and Pascuala Belmares Cruz in Rancho Santa Elena, Nuevo León, Mexico. Her foster parents were Gumecindo & Juanuta Gonzales of Donna, Texas. On Nov 17th, 1959, she married Amando Nunez and in 1964 with 3 children and another on the way, they moved to where they would call home for the next 58 years, Prosser, WA.
Ventura cherished her family, her many friends, and growing flowers especially her roses. Her favorite room in her home was the kitchen, and she showed her love by insisting on feeding all who walked through her door. One of her proudest moments in life was in 1976 when she became a US citizen and was able to vote.
For over 25 years, Ventura worked for the Washington State Migrant Council caring for the many children and babies that came to the daycare & early childhood education center in Whitstran.
After retiring she enjoyed many years of traveling with her husband and watching her grandchildren grow up and marry. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Amando of Bothell, WA, children Lupita McAllister of Bothell, Cesar (Dana) Nunez of Kennewick, Norma (Peter) Matar of Santa Fe, NM, Rafael (Lornna) Nunez of Prosser, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her foster parents and eleven foster siblings.
Visitation will be held at Prosser Funeral Home on Thursday, July 7th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 7:00.
