Gerard J. Cribbie, Sr., age 81, of Norton, formerly of South Weymouth, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.
Born on August 6, 1940, he was the son of the late Mary M. (Cribbie) Eaton. He grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and was educated in Boston Schools.
Jerry had made his home in Norton for the past nineteen years and was a former longtime resident of South Weymouth. Prior to retiring, he had worked as a painter at the General Dynamics Corporation in Quincy.
Jerry’s favorite times by far were those spent in the presence of his loving grandchildren. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and his hobbies included being a talented freehand artist, woodworking, collecting and working on classic cars and was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast.
He was the father of Michelle McGrath and her husband Keith of Wareham, Gerard Cribbie, Jr. and his wife Marie of Gardner, Steven Cribbie and his wife Rebecca of Oklahoma and Victoria Shade and her husband Steven of Norton. He was the grandfather of Ashley Abdow, John Fogerty, Devina Vaillancourt, Miranda McKearney, Alexandrea Shade, Sarah Blais, Timothy Connywerdy and Jillian Connywerdy. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
