Samuel (Sam) Duncan Wood, 94, of Norman Park went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, with family at his bedside. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ricky McLaughlin officiating. Mr. Wood will be laid to rest at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be at the home of Frances and Randy Bromlow, 1994 R. L. Sear Road, Norman Park, Georgia.
Jason Bromlow, Clay Bromlow, Justin Godwin, Joey Hullett, Earl Majors and Scott Dillard will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Wood owned and operated Sam Wood’s Garage and NP Auto Parts in Norman Park for almost 20 years. He was born December 23, 1927 in Ben Hill County and he was the son of the late Everett Noah Wood and Mary Ann Elizabeth Hogan Wood. Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Mildred Wood; son, Ray Wood; grandson, Joe Hullett; brothers, Louis Lomis Wood, Marvin Wood, Noah Lee Wood and Everett Noah Wood, Jr.; and sisters, Janie Ardelia Wood McLamore, Essie Wood Hammond, Birtie Mae Wood Corey and Minnie Wood Bullington. He was a member of Moultrie Church of God.
Mr. Wood is survived by two daughters, Frances Wood Bromlow (Randy), Janice Wood Kilgore (Steve), all of Norman Park; a special sister-in-law, Dean Wood of Ty Ty; ten grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
