David E. Welch, age 74, passed away peacefully at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital of Bedford. Raised in Somerville, he was the son of the late Frederick and Emeline (Drew) Welch. David enlisted in the US Airforce and served at Cam Ranh Bay Airbase in Vietnam. Upon his return to civilian life, He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Boston State College. David worked in shipping and receiving at Tufts University for 35 years. A long-time member at VFW Post 1012, David enjoyed cooking, barbequing and putting on big feeds for his fellow post members. At home, David was a devoted husband and family man. He enjoyed cooking there too. He looked forward to making delicious meals for family and friends. An avid fisher and lover of animals, especially cats, David also enjoyed quiet time, reading and regular visits to the Keno game. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The beloved husband to Patrice M. (Murphy) Welch, David was a devoted brother to the late Janea Cox. He was the dear son-in-law of Lucy Murphy of East Boston and the late Timothy J. Murphy. He was a devoted brother-in-law to Eileen and Neill Norcott of Swampscott and Timothy D. Murphy of East Boston. He was a loving uncle to Michael Norcott of Salem and his fiancée Kaitlin Magee.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St, Medford on Thursday, July 14th from 9-11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with military honors after the celebration of mass.
