Obituary

CHICOPEE – Henry Edward Germain, 73, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, July 3, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on January 5, 1949, a beloved son of the late Henry E. Germain, Sr. and Mary M. (Rodrigues) Germain. He was raised in Holyoke and, in 1967 at the age of 17, moved to the Fairview section of Chicopee. He graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force in the Vietnam War and the Persian Gulf War and attained the rank of Sergeant. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He was employed for many years as a Civil Service Office Employee at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee. He was a member of LifePoint Church in Chicopee. During his leisure time, Henry enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and loved to share his vegetables with his family, his neighbors and his church family. He also took great pride in raising and selling pure bread Guinea Pigs. Every November, Henry looked forward to volunteering his time and helping out his community at the Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044 with their Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. He leaves his dear brother, Edward Germain and his wife, Bonnie, of West Springfield; his two dear sisters, Lucinda “Cindy” Motta and Mary Kay Goff, both of Brunswick, GA; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Funeral Services will be private and his Burial will be private at Saint Jerome Cemetery in Holyoke. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in Henry’s memory to LifePoint Church, 603 New Ludlow Road, Chicopee, MA 01020.
