Obituary

Migdalia Cardona, favorably known as Mickey, passed away surrounded by her loving children on Friday June 17th, 2022 at approximately 7:30 am at the age of 67. Mickey was born Thursday July 30th, 1954, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Ramon and Maria Santos both from Hayayas, Puerto Rico.

Migdalia’s faith and love for God gave her peace and strength in her final days; she spoke fondly of dancing and laughing with those who have passed before her especially her highschool sweetheart, soul mate and husband, Carlos Cardona, as well as her best friend Neysa Garcia. Mickey is also predeceased by siblings Evelyn Santos, Ramona Melendez, Louis P. Santos, Raymond Santos, and Harry Santos.

Mickey is survived by her greatest pride: her children, Amanda Hayden, Benjamin Rivera, Melissa Morales, and Shayde Santos, and Amanda's husband Willie Hayden. She is also remembered by her siblings, Maria “Judy” Sparks, Yolanda Rodriquez, Yvette “Bibi” Santos-Nina, Marilyn Santos, Jacqueline Ojeda, Johnny Santos, and many nieces and nephews. One of Mickey’s greatest pleasures was spoiling her grandchildren, Faith, Jayden, Amina, and Benjamin with great affection, and maybe the (very) occasional toy or treat!

Migdalia called Paterson, New Jersey home on many occasions over her lifetime. Wherever she lived you could always find her surrounded by music, planning the next beach trip, laughing with family, shopping for the finer things in life, or just curling up on the couch to catch her favorite shows. Mickey’s greatest strength will always be her love for family. She rooted for everyone to succeed and cheered by the sidelines along the way. Her laugh was so grand and infectious it will forever be held in our hearts.

A celebration of Mickey’s life will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (144 E Merrimack Street, Lowell MA 01852; there is construction so please enter on the Fayette Street entrance) on Friday, July 8th, 2022 at 12 pm EDT. In honor of Mickey please wear her favorite color, green.
