Obituary

Joseph Herbert Eisenmann, 92, of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts died peacefully at his home on June 30th after a brief illness.

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1930, Joe was the son of the late Wilbur Herbert Eisenmann and Marie (Lane) Eisenmann. He is predeceased by his brother John L. Eisenmann.

Joe spent his childhood in Weymouth and graduated from Sacred Heart High School where he excelled in sports particularly hockey and baseball. He also excelled in music—playing both the clarinet and saxophone in several local jazz bands.

He attended Boston College and received a BA in history and government. He began work as a Social Worker for the Stoughton Welfare Department while pursuing a Master’s in Education at Boston Teacher’s College. He successfully devoted his life to educating children in the Abington school system first as a teacher then as an administrator. Joe was an Assistant Principal at Abington Junior High School, then a Principal at both Woodsdale and Center Elementary schools. During his morning school announcements, he was very encouraging to students and staff and was known to end each session with the comment “That is All”.

Joe also served in the Army as a second lieutenant in the infantry.
While pursuing his education he met and married Catherine (Broderick). They had 4 children and were happily married and devoted to each other for nearly 60 years until Catherine’s death in 2018.

Joe was a 57 - year resident of East Bridgewater, a faithful parishioner of St. John’s Church, a CCD teacher and an usher for the parish. He retired in 1992 and pursued his many interests including sports, fishing, meteorology, local travel, reading and spending time with his loving family.

He is survived by his children Mark J. Eisenmann and wife Denise of East Bridgewater, Susan M. Williamson and husband Matthew of Brooklyn, Connecticut, Thomas F. Eisenmann and wife Mary Beth of East Bridgewater and Kevin J. Eisenmann of East Bridgewater. He also leaves behind four remarkable grandchildren that were very special to him: Nicole M. Eisenmann, Joseph D. Eisenmann, Patrick J. Williamson and Elizabeth A. Williamson. He also leaves a great granddaughter Blake K. Williamson

Joe was an athletic and educational mentor to his children and their successes can be directly attributed to his skill, kindness and leadership as a father. He had a great sense of humor, was a wonderful listener and gave great advice. He was a gentleman first and foremost. He will be greatly missed and memories of him will be fondly cherished. And as Joe would say one last time, “That is All”.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Old Colony Hospice for their kindness, care and guidance.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services to be held on Thursday July 7th at 10:00AM in the St. John’s Church, 210 Central Street, East Bridgewater, MA. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery East Bridgewater. By request of the family all other services are omitted.
