Joyce R. Alix, 70, of Derry, NH, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at High Pointe Hospice in Haverhill, Mass. Born in Lawrence, Mass., on June 16, 1952, she was the daughter of the late George and Genevieve (O'Loughlin) Wall. Joyce had been a resident of Derry since she and her husband built their family home there in 1985. Prior to that, she lived in Londonderry, NH, and Lawrence.
Joyce was a graduate of Lawrence High School and Bryant-McIntosh Junior College in Lawrence. She was a staple of the Patient Accounts Department at Lawrence General Hospital for 50 years, many of them spent leading her team. All three of her sons attended St. Thomas Aquinas School in Derry, during which time she was an avid volunteer for school events and trips.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Alix of Derry; three sons, Matthew Alix of Manchester, NH, Justin Alix and his wife Emily Caswell of Exeter, NH, and Jonathan Alix, his wife Catherine and their son Benjamin of Epping, NH; her sister Kathleen Pelletier of Lady Lake, Fla.; and her brother Robert Wall and his wife Arleen of Andover, Mass.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 6th from 5 - 7 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Mask usage is at the discretion of the attendee. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry, on Thursday, July 7th at 10:00am. The burial will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery in East Derry.
