Quentin M. Bishop, 97, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Pine Level Church Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Dr. Keithen Tucker officiating.
Mr. Bishop was born November 3, 1924, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late John David Bishop, Sr. & Effie Mamie Middlebrooks Bishop. He served in the United States Navy for five and a half years during WWII on the USS Weaver. Mr. Bishop was owner of Bishop’s Plumbing and a plumbing contractor in Delray Beach, Florida. He served on the Plumbing Board for Palm Beach County. He retired from Bishop’s Plumbing in Delray Beach, Florida and moved back to Fitzgerald in 1997. Mr. Bishop was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. Mr. Bishop was a Mason, the oldest living member of The American Legion Post #99, a member of the Methodist Men and a member of Pine Level United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children: David Bishop of Valdosta, Gary & Cynthia Bishop of Stuart, Florida and Julie Jenkins of Fitzgerald; seven grandchildren: Justin Bishop, Alyson Bishop, Sean Mazza, Kyle Mazza, Meredeth Jones, Mariel Devito and Zachery Bishop and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bishop; two grandchildren: Ryan Mazza and Sheila Mazza; four brothers; three sisters and a daughter-in-law, Betsy Bishop.
